Probably parents won’t be sharing this version of the old nursery rhyme with their kiddos, but, still… Things sometimes have new meaning when seen in a different light.
Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall–
A move that proved ill-fated.
But do you think an egg climbed a wall by himself?
No. He had to have been persuaded.
“you can hear more up there; you can see more up there,
Enjoy all the sights and sounds
Life’s so much better up high on the wall,
Than it is being stuck on the ground.”
Humpty said “I’m too smart to be duped,
I won’t believe something that’s baseless.”
Now Humpty Dumpty and the king’s army too,
Have egg all over their faces.
Poor Humpty Dumpty’s pride made him fall–
But the lesson remains with us still–
If you think you’re too smart to fall prey to a scam,
It’s a pretty safe bet that you will.
“Pride goes before destruction,
a haughty spirit before a fall,” *
If you’re positive you could never be scammed,
Think of Humpty down there by the wall.
