Retired Scottsdale Couple Nearly Scammed out of Thousands Saved by Store Clerk
A hero clerk at a CVS store stopped a scam in progress when she intervened as an elderly couple were purchasing gift cards to send to scammers. According to the wife, the clerk grabbed the phone from them, called the crooks on the other end precisely what they were, and hung up.
Awhile back, and in a similar situation, a hero gentleman in Peoria, AZ named Eric Ratke stopped a social security scam in progress. Although he’d never met the gentleman before, he took his phone and asked the scammers why they were trying to scam his dad. Unfortunately, the link to that story is no longer available.
All it takes is a bit of caring, folks. These scam heros saved elderly folks on fixed incomes thousands of dollars. Congratulations and God bless the people who care enough to intervene. Thank you for being you. It wasn’t easy, I know. We’re taught to mind our own business. Thanks for listening to your better angel. If ever confronted with a similar situation, I hope we’ll all do likewise.
